Emergency kit checklist builder
Enter your household to get a printable checklist with the amounts of water and food you need.
Where the list comes from
The items follow the US Federal Emergency Management Agency's Ready.gov basic disaster supplies kit and its list of additional supplies, with the water at one gallon per person per day. Keep the kit in an easy-to-carry container by the door, keep a smaller kit at work and in the car, and check it at least once a year — replace expired food, water and batteries, and update medicines and documents.
Also plan
- How your family will contact each other and where you will meet if you are separated.
- How to turn off your water, gas and electricity.
- The emergency alerts and evacuation routes for your area — your local government's emergency management office has them.
Work out your water and food in more detail.
For planning and general information. In an emergency, follow the instructions of your local authorities and call your emergency number (911, 112, 999 or 000).
