About MetaGlobe

MetaGlobe is a free site for everyday date, time and number questions: when the next public holiday is, what time it is in Tokyo, how many days until Christmas, when the sun sets tonight, how many working days are left this month — plus calendars to print and quick converters.

How we check our facts

Every date on the site is checked against an official or independent source before it goes live. Sunrise, sunset and moon phases are checked against the US Naval Observatory; time zones follow the latest release of the official IANA time zone database; the world calendars are checked against official calendar rules and the Hong Kong Observatory.

How we check holidays

Our holiday lists start from the open-source date-holidays project. Before a country goes live, we check every public holiday against official government sources and correct anything that does not match — for example, Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which several provinces have made a statutory holiday. UK dates come straight from the official GOV.UK list. Each page links to the source it was checked against.

Holidays can still change at short notice, so for anything important please confirm with your employer or an official source.
