Your life in numbers
How many days have you been alive? How many full moons have you seen? Enter your date of birth — it stays on your device.
How these are worked out
- Days, hours and seconds count from midnight UTC on your birthday, and the seconds keep ticking.
- Full moons are counted from our moon phase tables, checked against the US Naval Observatory.
- Trips around the sun use the tropical year of 365.2422 days — the time from one March equinox to the next.
- Distance around the sun: the Earth orbits the sun at an average of 29.78 km a second (NASA's Earth fact sheet), so you cover about 940 million km every year without leaving your chair.
- Your billionth second comes about 31 years and 8 months after you are born.
For your exact age in years, months and days, use the age calculator.
Orbital speed: NASA Earth Fact Sheet (mean orbital velocity 29.78 km/s). Moon phases: Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms, checked against the US Naval Observatory.
