Which country has the most public holidays?

How many public holidays do people get? These counts come straight from our holiday lists for 30 countries, each checked against official sources.

Countries count holidays differently: some set them nationally, others leave most to their states, provinces or cantons, so where a country has regions we show the range. The first number counts the holidays themselves, even those that fall on a weekend. The second counts the weekday days off they give, including a day off in place of a holiday that falls on a weekend, so it can be the larger of the two.

Where a country's list covers only its central government (India) or federal workers (Canada, the United States), most people also get their state's or province's holidays. Long weekends and bridge days
