What is UTC?
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the time standard the world sets its clocks by. Time zones are written as offsets from it — New York is UTC−5 in winter, Tokyo is UTC+9. UTC never changes for daylight saving. For everyday purposes it is the same as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the winter time of the United Kingdom.
