How the date is set

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after 21 March โ€” using the church's own tables of the moon rather than the real sky. So Western Easter is always between 22 March and 25 April. Orthodox churches use the same rule on the old Julian calendar, so their Easter is the same day or one to five weeks later, between 4 April and 8 May.
